CityCampKC is KC region's installment of the wildly popular global unconference series connecting civic doers, makers and hackers together with local gov officials for a day of learning, discussing, imagining and building.
Come hack your Kansas City. You are the change you've been waiting for. Help create the city you want to live in. The focus this year is on diversity in government, gov tech and civic engagement.
CityCampKC 2013 is Saturday, April 20th at the Kauffman Foundation. The event runs from 9 to 5, with a social breakfast at 8am and cocktails afterwards from 5 to 7. Attendance is limited and last year's sold out, so reserve your space now.
Live in KC? Attend! The purpose of CityCamp is to pull together all the folks who collectively shape their city.
Yep. Like a regular conference, but driven mostly by the participants. You can share your idea if you want.
Last year, CityCamp jammed a day full of enriching conversations together with a mini-hackathon. While it made for a fun adrenaline rush, the day just wasn't long enough to do the hacakathon justice.
This year, attendees are invited to take part in Hack of the Sexes (HOTS), a full blown hackathon the weekend following CityCampKC. HOTS is a KC original event where teams will be challenged to work together to generate ideas, designs and code to improve our community.
Though both are standalone events, the two complement each other so much that we've partnered with the HOTS crew to offer a bundled ticket discount (see registration below). HOTS will be at CityCampKC to present their innovative model and to generate ideas for the hackathon.
CityCampKC houses the official IgniteKC. Each presenter has 5 minutes and 20 slides. Equal parts educating and electrifying.
“Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.”

Insight, I believe, refers to the depth of understanding that comes by setting experiences, yours and mine, familiar and exotic, new and old, side by side, learning by letting them speak to one another.
